What To Bring...

Many people seem to think shares in a tackle shop are necessary to enjoy deep sea fishing...nothing could be further from the truth. The following is a general guide to the main items required, only time, personal preference and experience will determine your exact requirements: ......

1. A STURDY BOAT ROD.
2. A BOAT REEL - typically an Alvey 925 or a 9/0 overhead reel.
A good alternative is the Reefmaster or similar type winches.
3. TACKLE BOX
4. HESSIAN BAG or PLASTIC TUB FOR FISH.
5. WEATHERPROOF BOOTS - NO THONGS
6. WET WEATHER GEAR - Jacket, Pants, etc.
7. BAIT.
8. FOOD AND DRINK FOR THE DAY.
9. SEASICKNESS PILLS (Important!).
10. HAT & SUNSCREEN (Important!).
11. ROD BUCKET & BELT.
12. SHEATH KNIFE.
13. GOOD RANGE OF HOOKS, SWIVELS, SINKERS AND LINE.

NOTE: Sinkers should always be 2lb (1kg). We recommend 50 to 80 lb monofilament nylon line, some of the woven types and the "high tech" spider wire are a nightmare to untangle.
